Zoey - Special Needs Senior the Dog needs a home

Zoey is a wonderful senior girl who makes a perfect companion dog. She likes to follow her foster mom around the house and wags almost constantly! Being older, Zoey is quiet and laid back, but she does have a spunky side and will join in with her foster siblings when they play. She does well with most dogs, but prefers not to have a high energy dog in her face; she will bark at the dog to let them know. Zoey's favorite activities cover both extremes - she loves laying on the couch but she also loves going for walks. Zoey is overweight so she is currently on a diet and daily exercise regimen. She has already lost a few pounds, and her foster mom is noticing a more alert, energetic, happy Zoey!

Weight loss is a big deal for Zoey - as she loses weight, her diabetes will be better controlled. She gets insulin injections twice a day with her meals, but she wants you to know that it doesn't bother her at all. Her foster mom is a nurse so she can teach you how to do it! Also, due to the diabetes, Zoey cannot have very many snacks throughout the day. She doesn't seem to mind this at all, because when her foster siblings get a treat she gets extra kisses and snuggles!

Upsate 8/29-- Zoey has been very playful over the past couple of weeks! She continues to follow her foster mom around, but she now does it with a spring in her step, and sometimes a playful grumble. She also enjoys bouncing around with a fellow foster, Kindra, who is small like her. Zoey is also showing her foster mom how well she listens when told "stay". She will stop dead in her tracks if she hears the word, even if it is directed at one of her siblings! There's a little bit of stubborn in this girl when you ask her to sit. She knows how to do it but prefers to do it on her own time; how much can one ask of a little spunky old lady?! She thinks "stay" is plenty!

Zoey has lot some weight which helps with her diabetes stay controlled. This sweet senior girl is easy going. loving playful and just an all around good girl! She does require her insulin shots twice a day but she is an absolute angel for it and her diabetes doesn't stop her in anyway from enjoying life!!!
